The weather is getting cooler which means it’s time to start looking towards warmer meals and treats. When it’s cold outside, who can say no to a cup of classic hot chocolate? Get your little one to help you out with this hot chocolate recipe and enjoy two delicious cups together.

The instructions in orange are the ones you can hand over to your child!


3 cups milk
1 cup heavy cream
½ cup sugar
¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
6 ounces milk chocolate, roughly chopped
1 tsp vanilla extract
Marshmallows and whipped cream


Gently mix the milk, heavy cream, sugar, cocoa powder and salt together with a fork.
Cook over medium heat occasionally stirring until the powders dissolve.
Add half of the chopped chocolate and stir for two minutes.
Add the rest of the chopped chocolate and cook for another minute.
Take off the heat and add the vanilla.
Pour into heavy mugs.
Top with whipped cream and marshmallows.
