Even if they’re extremely fussy eaters, no child will say no to a nice, juicy burger. However, instead of getting pre-prepared patties from the supermarket, why not make your own at home? That way, you can make sure that they’re fresh and healthy. Try this delicious mince patty recipe from us! After making them, ask your children to help assembling the burgers; it’ll make them even more excited about eating them!

500 grams lean beef or lamb mince
3 green onions, finely chopped
2 garlic cloves, crushed
1 carrot, peeled and grated
1 egg yolk
¼ cup barbecue sauce
1 tsp olive oil

Mix the mince, onions, garlic, carrots, egg yolk and barbecue sauce together.
Form into two centimeter thick patties.
Place them on a plate, cover with a plastic wrap and refrigerate for an hour.
Heat the oil in a non-stick frying pan and fry all four of the patties together.
Flip after five minutes, taking care not to break the patties.
Cook for another four minutes and then take out of the pan.
Allow to cool and then place between two burger buns along with vegetables and condiments of your choice.
